5 Narrative Stages and Characters

There are 5 Narrative stages that occur in all films these are:

1. Equilibrium
2. Disruption
3. Complication
4. Resolution
5. New Equilibrium

5 stages of JAWS
Equilibrium- It is the 4th July coming up to the school holidays, there is a party, someone goes swimming.
Disruption-The girl gets eaten. People think it is a shark that has killed her.
Complication-They think they have caught the shark but someone else gets eaten. The mayor won't shut down the beach, so more people may die.
Resolution-They are going to need a bigger boat and they need a shark killer. They get the captain to kill the shark.
New Equilibrium-Shark is dead so everything is back to normal. Everyone has a new outlook on life.

5 Characters

The are 5 characters that occur in most films:

1. A Hero-The one on the quest and the one who saves the day.
2. The Villain-The evil one who causes the disequilbrium.
3. The Helper-A person who helped the hero. (sidekick)
4. The Victim- At the mercy of the villain
5. The Donor-Someone who has something special which will help the hero
